Q&A After 1 Year Of Using The Phoenix to Treat The Leading Cause of Sexual Decline in Men

Updated: Oct 9, 2023

The Phoenix ED Device Q&A With Rich After Using It For 1 Year

What’s up guys? It’s Rich, and today I want to talk about my experience with The Phoenix after using it for 1 year to help me treat the leading cause of sexual decline in men. I received my Phoenix Li-ESWT device in July of 2020 and immediately started following Dr. Thompson's 120-day protocol to improve the health and sexual performance of my penis.

For those of you who have followed my journey, you'll remember my popular "12 treatments for better sexual performance" post. I've tried to document my journey so that everyone can learn from my experience and make an informed decision about improving their sexual health.

This article will give you a full recap, including my honest opinions after 1 year with The Phoenix. Some sources indicate that the benefits of acoustic wave therapy should last for up to 2 years. Thankfully, I own The Phoenix, so I can perform additional treatments as needed to maintain my gains.

I've tried to answer as many of the questions I get in a Q&A format, getting into the nitty-gritty details so that you'll know what to expect at the 1-year mark.

Now, before we go any further, for those of you who are new to The Phoenix, and debating on whether or not to get one, here is what you should know.

What is The Phoenix Li-ESWT Device? Can it help guys like you?

The Phoenix is the only medical-grade at-home acoustic wave therapy device. It's patented around the world and has been recommended by experts and doctors alike.

Even though its groundbreaking entry into the market was overshadowed by the international struggle against the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, more than 55,000+ men have used The Phoenix to "get it up" once again, for better sexual performance in the bedroom.

Some men see an improvement after only a few sessions, but more than 94% experience a more noticeable improvement after 90-120 days of consistent treatments.

What The Phoenix Device Is And How It Can Help You

The home treatment protocol was designed by Dr. Thompson, a Urologist, and Surgeon with more than a decade of experience using Li-ESWT in his clinic (the same therapy provided by The Phoenix) to help men turn back the clock on the natural sexual decline in that happens with age.

Men who make repeated trips to a clinic for this treatment spend, on average, $500 per treatment. That adds up to thousands of dollars, plus the hassle of making appointments and taking time off.

Thanks to The Phoenix, men can now own the solution for only $879. It’s rated to deliver over 70 full-strength treatments from the comfort and privacy of your home, without a prescription. An equivalent number of treatments in a clinic would cost over $30,000.

Now, without further ado, let’s answer the most common questions about The Phoenix and questions for Rich about what his results look like a year later.

common questions about The Phoenix

Q: Did You Have Issues "Getting it Up" Before Buying The Phoenix?

A: Yes. I was diagnosed with a venous leakage in my left corpora cavernosa. I went to a handful of Urologists over the past decade, and got tested and evaluated for sexual performance issues where I couldn't get and keep it up (doppler test). They all concluded the same result and prescribed me PEDi5 inhibitors (Viagra and Cialis).

I was offered to do surgery, but I was scared to do so because of the risk of infection or something going wrong.

Q: Why Would A Guy Need Acoustic Wave Therapy With The Phoenix?

A: To put it simply, as we age, we naturally experience a sexual decline in our penis. What makes blood flow decrease or constrict even more is plaque buildup in the arteries and vessels from health conditions, eating habits, and poor lifestyle choices. By using The Phoenix, the sound waves produced by the device combats this by allowing you to "get it up" again and "keep it up".

The Phoenix help prevents the sexual decline issue a lot of guys start having at some point after their 18th birthday. And, yes, you read that correctly. Us guys start building up plaque in the arteries of our penis and sexual decline begins at a very early age!

So, treating now is a good way to keep things working before they start becoming more problematic in the bedroom down the road. It doesn’t matter if you're having issues "getting it up" or are not there yet where it's noticeable... Making an effort now makes a huge difference.

Q: Does Treatment With The Phoenix hurt?

A: No. It doesn’t hurt at all.

When I bought the device it came with a few packets of 4% Lidocaine numbing cream, but I didn’t need it. Before starting treatment, you want to make sure you place the tip firmly on your penis. Eventually, you’ll get used to the sensations from the sound waves as well as how to hold your penis while moving the device up and down the shaft on each treatment line.

Trust me, there will be a small learning curve in the beginning because it will feel a little awkward doing treatments. But, it gets easier and it’s self-explanatory/intuitive- especially with the tutorial videos that I was able to follow along with.

Q: When Did You First Notice an Improvement in Your Penis After Using the Phoenix?

A: For me (Me only), I noticed after the 3rd and 4th treatments. I was still taking my medication at the time, but what was noticeable for me was the increase in sensitivity, hardness, and the veins I developed as the treatments progressed. I know this is too much information for some of you, but when I was having sex, I remember looking down in shock because I had noticeable veins running along my shaft that were never there before.

To me, that was definitely a big sign that the treatment was working, in addition to the increase in fullness and hardness of my penis.

Q: How Many Treatments Did You Do With The Phoenix?

A: Last year in July 2020, I did 12 treatments. It took about a month and a half to complete. Through conversations with the support team, I learned more about the best way to perform treatments.

Dr. Thompson, their lead Urologist introduced his protocol. He recommends that guys follow his precise treatment protocol of 120 days:

  • 2 treatments per week for 30 days

  • 30 days of rest/recovery

  • (repeat at least once, then as needed)

An optional part of the protocol is using a penis pump. Pumping 2 times per day during the weeks you’re performing treatments helps pull oxygen-rich blood and stem cells into the treatment area, which further supports tissue recovery.

In general, Li-ESWT research, the physiological benefits occurs during the 30 days of rest between treatment cycles.

I reached out to their amazing 24/7 support team in the following weeks, because I wanted to know if there were more improvements to come. Turns out, 90-120 days seems to be the consensus at this time for men to see noticeable improvement with The Phoenix.

Again, for me (Me only) I noticed initial improvement after the 3rd and 4th treatments. Results can vary for different guys depending on their current health condition or lifestyle.

Q: How Important Is Recovery in Between Treatments With the Phoenix?

A: There’s a 36-hour lockout feature for a reason. I personally did 2-3 treatments a week initially and found that to be great for me. I didn’t rush to treat myself once the 36-hour timer was up. I just made sure I got my 2 or 3 sessions in the week and that’s it.

Q: Do You Have To Stop Having Sex for Treatment to Work?

A: No. You can have sex on the same day. There is no downtime.

Whenever I used the device, I had sex later that day with no problem.

Q: Are You Still Seeing Results From the Phoenix a Year Later?

A: When it comes to improved performance, yes. I will say that my results have stayed. I did a few experimental treatments earlier this year in January, to see if I would notice anything different. I’m still able to get hard and maintain that same hardness level from when I had treatments last year in July 2020. I really like knowing that if I need to, I can always grab The Phoenix and do additional treatments. It makes me feel like I’m in control of my sexual health.

I think the most important thing is to maintain these results by living a healthier lifestyle and communicating with your partner if you’re in a relationship. After all, it’s not a one-time fix, and getting your partner on board not only makes things easier but makes the sex even better.

Q: How Did You Initially Hear About The Phoenix?

A: I had received shockwave treatment in a clinic in NY. It was coming to a time where I needed a tune up. I remember having a bad side effect from the little blue pill that caused me a really bad headache and a stuffy nose last year in March. It was also allergy season and it made having sex less enjoyable for me. It was honestly the last straw and I remember telling my girlfriend at the time that I wished there was an alternative solution without the side effects that pills gave me. This and an easier option than driving to the city for shockwave treatment at a clinic.

One night I was deep into a Google search when I stumbled upon the P-shot. This is a completely different treatment than The Phoenix, but a few clicks away and I landed on a page that talked about The Rocket and acoustic wave therapy. It looked interesting and I googled acoustic wave therapy and found articles and journals about it being done at clinics around the country (I’m from the U.S. btw).

man with ED

On a side note: At the time, The Phoenix was called The Rocket. The largest network of men’s health clinics in the United States sued them. In court, they actually claimed that the technology was exactly like their in-clinic treatments, and the device could put them out of business.

In the end, the case was settled and now The Phoenix is offered in clinics around the United States. It’s the only device that has been recognized to provide the same treatment as those performed in clinics.

Again, I have to admit, I called their team quite a bit. I was an enthusiastic early-adopter, after all. I have to give a shoutout to one of their team members named James. He was patient and thoroughly answered all of my questions.

He was very cool and a nice guy and I’m glad I had someone like him to help with my purchase decision and for any questions I had throughout my Phoenix protocol.

Q: What is The Science Behind Acoustic Wave Technology?

A: I’m not a doctor who can explain it scientifically, so I’m going to pull facts from reputable sources including from

There are plenty of studies from The NCBI, National Library of Medicine, and clinical studies on low intensity shock waves (Li-EWST). Both experts in their fields of medicine and doctors alike recommend using this technology.

The Phoenix uses the SAME acoustic wave technology used at a men’s health clinic. The Phoenix, when used, emits powerful sound waves, sometimes called shockwaves, to effectively and safely allow men to get hard again and stay hard.

These same waves travel deep into the tissue, causing painless microtrauma that induces “angiogenesis” or “neovascularization” to improve your sexual performance and make sex more enjoyable.

It’s not an overnight fix. It’s actually a process. But, as the weeks progress so does the quality and improvement of your penis.

You can read more clinical studies about Li-EWST...aka acoustic wave therapy/shockwave therapy here

Q: Is The Phoenix A One Time Solution For Sexual Performance Issues?

A: As I always tell those who are listening or readin this, there is NO Permanent fix or “one time solution” for sexual performance issues. No matter what type of treatments you choose, sexual performance issues can always come back! Results from acoustic wave therapy with The Phoenix are meant to last up to 2 years.

eggplant shaped like a penis

Think of it like going to the Dentist or the Doctor. You may have gotten your teeth cleaned or got your annual check-up, but it’s not a one-time fix. You still have to go back to get another cleaning, cavity fill, root canal, check-up, vaccine, X-ray, etc. in the future!

This is the same concept guys. However, you should be striving to maintain these results so they last longer. How do you do that? By maintaining a healthy lifestyle and killing bad habits and patterns. I go more into why the Phoenix is not a one time solution here.

Q: How Do You Maintain Results with The Phoenix?

A: I maintain my results by living a healthy lifestyle and AVOIDING junk foods (artery clogging foods), drugs, too much alcohol, smoking, taking prescription medications that have ED or neurological side effects, etc.

I also get my hormones checked annually (sometimes semi-annually) to make sure my male hormones (e.g. testosterone) are at optimal levels. My sleep regime is also consistent (8-9 hours) so that my circadian rhythm is balanced and not out of whack and working against me.

Lastly, I work out 4-6 times a week staying at a healthy weight doing combat sports for my health, and mental health too.

Q: Why Is Maintaining Results From The Phoenix Important?

A: Personally, I like to look and think outside the box. The Phoenix only treats the natural sexual decline guys face with age and/or poor health/lifestyles.

So, that means understanding the root cause of your issue is critical. You have to look at any and all factors that are/can be contributing to your sexual performance issues.

I always say, you’re responsible for your sexual performance and overall health. No one else is. If you choose to sit on the couch and have a bad attitude like the world is against you, then you’re not going to get the results you’re looking for. In fact, don’t expect to get the best results or at all, if you’re NOT going to exercise, eat healthy, check your hormones regularly, sleep more, or you live a poor lifestyle and smoke and do drugs, etc.

It's just not going to do you or your sexual health any favors.

Q: What About Sex Pills or Gas Station Pills for men?

A: Here are my personal thoughts on this:

PEDi5 inhibitors like sildenafil, tadalafil, or even gas station dick pills are able to increase blood flow by dilating the blood vessels using drugs/chemicals. The only difference is that gas station pills are not FDA approved and are imported from countries that might add a bunch of other filler ingredients that might be harmful to your body. The FDA has warned that many of these types of pills are tainted. On the other hand, sildenafil or other mainstream brands require a prescription from a doctor.

gas station pills

You can take a pill, but you will only have results for a few hours and possibly a headache (or worse) after getting the deed done. That’s a Band-Aid fix. Not a long-term solution that's going to heal your body.

I’ve used pills for years, but suffered from their side effects and hated having to time my intimate moments. People who have sexual performance issues understand that “time” is a crucial factor when taking these pills. Depending on the PEDi5 inhibitor, you may have to eat something before taking it or have to take it on an empty stomach. At the same time, if you’re going on a date with a new partner, you run the risk of taking a pill too early or too late before the effects kick in.

This builds a mental dependency causing you to have anxiety or confidence issues if you don’t take a pill.

Q: Does The Phoenix Treat Performance Anxiety?

A: I think this question is very subjective and different for every guy depending on what’s going on in their sex life. As I mentioned earlier, sexual performance is more complex than just a single issue such as blood flow. There are also other factors to consider. But, to be clear, performance anxiety is not a blood flow issue.

Performance anxiety has a lot to do with situational events, feelings, trauma and the mental state of mind. I’m not a psychologist, but if you can take a moment to read more about this or self reflect, you can easily make some associations in your life that tie into how good your erections will be during sex on a particular day.

man having performance anxiety and erectile dysfunction

Say for example, you didn’t sleep the night before and you planned to have sex that night. Before you get to bed, you thought it would be a great idea to consume alcohol thinking it will get you in the mood. But, during sex you had trouble keeping it hard and you had to end it abruptly leaving your partner unsatisfied. This has never happened to you before and now you’re probably sitting there feeling embarrassed, awkward, and emasculated.

Subconsciously, you’re going to think that it’s going to happen again if you sleep with that person (or someone else), when really it was just because you had 3 hours of sleep and you drank a little too much. Now the vicious cycle begins and will soon, "potentially" lead to developed performance anxiety.

The Phoenix helps sexual performance and makes it easier to get hard, but it does not fix the mind. Although getting hard with The Phoenix can give you a mental confidence boost, the rest is up to you to relax and be in the moment with your partner to have sex versus thinking you’re going to fail like the "self-fulfilling prophecy" concept.

Q: Can The Phoenix Help Increase Size?

A: If that were the case, we would all be gallivanting around like horses. But, that’s not the case.

Does The Phoenix For ED Increase size?

The Phoenix was designed to improve sexual decline in men where it counts for PIV sex, keeping it up or getting it up in the bedroom.

Before The Phoenix, I wasn’t able to keep it hard or get to my “FULL” size. So, yes it appeared "smaller". After using The Phoenix, it appeared as though I got “bigger”, but that’s because of I was finally able to get my penis fully up, achieving its full potential.

So, don’t get confused with what you hear online. This is not a device designed for that.

Q: Are There Any Discounts For The Phoenix Device?

A: The device is already discounted. If you go to a men’s health clinic for wave therapy you’ll pay $3000-$6000 dollars for 6-12 treatments with a doctor.

The Phoenix is currently $879 dollars and uses the same clinical strength acoustic wave technology. The best part is the device is engineered to last up to 70 treatments before replacing it. So, you’ll have the device long after your first cycle of 12 treatments or Dr. Thompson's 120-day protocol, which is 16 treatments spread out over 4 months.

The math is hard to argue with. $3000-$6000 versus $879 dollars.

There is a small discount to the $879 price point if you use our codeBDESTYLE” when you checkout FOR $150 OFF. Getmyphoenix (priority link to get yours here) also offers a payment plan option for guys that want to break up the $879 into smaller interest-free payments. Altogether, it’s worth it.
